The Joyful Friar Podcast explores the soulful, the meaningful, and the mystical in three different ways. First, Afterlife, Interrupted stories, in which someone who died suddenly and traumatically seeks my help and the help of my prayer partners.
Second, Compassionate Responses, to readers’ and listeners’ questions and concerns that arise from those stories. And third, Spiritual Practices, influenced by the Catholic Christian tradition I’ve been shaped by that reveal how goodness is at work throughout the universe and within each of us.

Fr. Nathan discusses the work of Kimberly Clark Sharp, MSW, LICSW, who is the founder of the Seattle chapter of the International Association of Near-Death Studies, (IANDS) the world’s oldest support group for near-death experiencers, since 1982. Kimberly believes “death is nothing to fear- life without fear can be lived to the fullest."
Kimberly Clark Sharp, MSW, LiCSW had a near-death experience at twenty-two. Kimberly Clark Sharp is the founder of the Seattle IANDS (International Association of Near-Death Studies), the world’s oldest and largest support group for near-death experiencers, since 1982.
Kimberly is an international conference and workshop speaker, a consultant to news and entertainment media, and has been published in many textbooks, journals, and magazines.

She worked for two decades as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Washington. She co-taught a Terminal Illness Seminar at the University of Washington, School of Medicine.
